When Mommy Closes The Door, Mo Opens It

We have a small bathroom in our family room and Mo learned to open the door. I'd love to say I have a picture of the image I'm about to describe, but I was a little too frustrated to remember the camera!

In the brief seconds it took me to get in there after her, she managed to throw a few items into the toilet and was in the midst of diving in after the things. Keep in mind that since we hired a cleaning lady, we now have blue toilet water! So I call her name, she turns around and her lovely white t-shirt is drenched in blue water. She is smiling from ear to ear and has an empty bottle of tylenol in one hand and a toy in the other - both of which are soaked and dripping blue water.

And so the adventures of toddlerhood begin. We are so screwed.

Stricken from the List

After changing Mo's diaper this afternoon I have made the decision NEVER to eat corn again.

Hippo = Wise Investment

My parents gave Mo this peek a blocks hippo for Christmas and I have to say, it's been well utilized. Mo loves to play with this hippo - whether she's taking it for a walk or using it as a vehicle to take one of her stuffed animals for a walk! She never seems to tire of this thing!

Crack and Epilepsy, Oh My!

It's interesting how Mo has become fascinated with stuffed animals. I mentioned Dr. Monkey and Mini-monk in a previous post...Mo is truly attached to those things! In fact, it's gotten to the point where she cries in her crib if Dr. Monkey isn't around for her to sleep with. Never mind "Crack Dragon", "Gay Birdie'', "Epileptic Elephant" and the others that are in the crib. She wants nothing to do with those. It's monkey all the way. I can't say I blame her considering Daddy is always pushing stupid lions on the kid!!

Oh and yes, people, we've named her animals. And not little cutsie names. We're just not the cutsie type. I can just see her now in kindergarten show and tell day - introducing "crack dragon" to her classmates. I guess that would warrant a call from the teacher!

Here is a pic of Mo holding another monkey - and, of course, the obligatory lion. Daddy made her do it! What you don't see is what happened immediately following this pic when mo threw the lion on the floor. Daddy didn't get a pic of that of course!

Whiny, Crabby, Miserable Mo

I think the title of this entry sums it all up. Mo has been a handful these last couple of days and she's really been testing my patience. She's teething, so she has an excuse, but oh.my.god...if this doesn't stop soon, I'm gonna freak.

Another Busy Weekend

I'm tellin ya...I need more days in the weekend. We had another really busy couple of days around here. After running around and doing errands all day on Saturday, we went out that evening with friends and ate and drank entirely tooo much. Today we hung out with another couple of friends and, once again, drank too much. Well not so much me as the hubs! We actually hung out at a local park and played frisbee. I have to say - that's not something I've done since I was a kid. It was actually fun! Mo discovered a pirate ship to play in and had a blast climbing in and out of it, as well as using the sliding board - which leads me to a question. When is a good time for the first official swingset?

Tonight I leave you with an adorable pic of Mo and Mini-Monk that was taken at the wedding last weekend. (She has 2 identical monkeys - one is just larger than the other. We call the big one Dr. Monkey and the little one Mini-Monk. I guess we had Austin Powers on the brain or something).

Busy, Busy Around These Parts

Friday night - Mo and I were home not feeling so good. Colds have taken over our bodies once again. Grrrr....

Sat. morning started out with a consultation appointment with an oral surgeon. Turns out I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. At 32? What's up with that? Then I hit a few yard sales. I'm not a big yard sale person. Never have been. But now that I have a kid, I'm noticing things at these sales that I've never noticed before - like outside toys for the little one. I saw this really cool walk-in house, but it was already sold. I did, however, manage to snatch up a little tykes picnic set in excellent shape for only $10!! And today I saw a sign for a 100 family yard sale next Sat., so I hope to find a few more things for Mo as well.

We had a wedding to go to on Sat. evening. I was a little nervous about taking the babbler into the church, but she did well. She was quiet as long as she was allowed to walk. So Daddy took her to the back of the church and let her roam! At the reception, she tuckered herself out with all the dancing and running around she did!

As if that wasn't enough to do in one day, we did a little car shopping, then went to some friends afterwards and watched Meet the Fockers.

Sunday was just as busy, but I'll spare ya'll the details.

Needless to say, I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. Why can't we have 2 day work weeks and 5 day weekends? Wouldn't that be awesome?

Horrible, Horrible Dream

I woke up at 4:30 this morning after having a terrible nightmare. I dreamt that we were walking through the mall with Mo and we went up a staircase to go to the upper level. At the top of the stairs there was a balcony with 2 bars that ran across it to keep anyone from falling over the edge. Mo plopped herself on the floor and dangled her legs through the opening and in a split second, before I could get to her, she slipped through the opening and fell to the lower level head first. She died within seconds.

This dream was so real. Mo looked just as she does now. The terror that ran through me while watching her fall was something I can't describe. The panic woke me up instantly. And all day today, I haven't been able to get that image out of my head.

Why would I have a dream like that? It's not like I'm worried about anything. In fact, the whole first year of her life couldn't have gone more smoothly. This just came out of nowhere. I'm just praying that this image leaves my head soon. It sends shivers through me every time I think about it.

Table Foods

The transition to table food sucks considering the following factors:

A. I hate to cook
B. I hate to buy food at the grocery store that requires cooking

Jars of baby food were so easy. Where's formula when you need it? Maybe it wasn't so bad spending goo gobs of cash on that stuff!!

Mo's First Haircut

On Saturday, Mo received her first haircut. As you can see, the shag-meister was long overdue!

Those Poor Bunnies...

Finally had the opportunity to empty the pics off my camera. These were the bunnies that were destined to die at the paws of an evil dog.

You know you're always thinking about your kid first when...

You sit down to have a nice bowl of cereal for breakfast, take your first bite and realize there was barely anything on the spoon and therefore, barely anything in your mouth. It's officially become habit to always grab a baby spoon when reaching into the drawer. One piece of cereal in the mouth just doesn't cut it!

Evil Dog Reigns

Last Saturday the hubs was out cutting the grass and discovered a nest of baby bunnies. They were soooo cute and soooo tiny! He mowed around the nest so as not to disturb the little cuties. I planned to check on them daily and make sure they were ok, but my plans didn't even last through the next day. The next morning our neigbor saw our evil dog eating them. She's evil. Pure evil. Those poor innocent bunnies... I'm so sad.

We Have A Walker

It's official! The mo-meister is walking! The hubs and I worked so hard over the last couple of weeks to get her walking, and when does she finally decide to do it? Today - at her babysitter's house! The little stink blossom had to do it in her own way, in her own time, at her own pace - without either parent present! Go figure!

In other news, we saw Sting last night in concert! He was awesome. He actually sounds exactly as he did 20 years ago. The man never seems to age.

Must get sleep now. So so so tired.
