I keep getting these mailings from Gerber for Life Insurance (for baby, not parents). I'm sure anyone who is a new parent is getting them too. It's called the grow up plan and it locks in a childhood premium that never goes up. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
I wish I had more time to blog, but I'm just so busy busy! It's been a rough week at our house. My mom had a heart attack early Tuesday morning -around 1 in the morning. I am still in shock about this. She is 49 years old and in otherwise good health, plus there is no history of heart problems on either side of our family. It's hard to believe. But she is doing better. She's still in the hospital recovering, but we're hoping she'll get to go home this weekend.
Much less eventful, of course, is Mo's continued teething. She's getting in 2 upper teeth and she has been really sick this week from it. Her cough is terrible. I took her to the doctor thinking this can't be from teething, but apparently it is. She literally coughs and hacks like she's an 80 year old smoker.
This week is coming to an end. Here's hoping next week will be much better.
It's strange how having a baby affects your grammar. I've read countless articles on child rearing that support using your normal vocabulary with babies to encourage and promote verbal skills. Bottom line is: talk normally. Yet, neither the hubby, nor I, can seem to do that.
First of all, I have an incessant urge to say words twice. It's not "Hi, Mo!" It's "Hi Mo Mo!" Other crazy things include: bah bah (for bottle), toofie or teefie, feetsie, burpie, and I think you get the point. No matter how hard I try to stop, I can't seem to do so!
Another strange habit I picked up is rocking back and forth - whether or I'm sitting or standing. I could be sitting in my office - with Mo nowhere around because she's at the babysitter - and yet, I start to rock as if she's in my arms or something. (And no, my arms aren't in position. I'm not crazy people!)
So what kind of strange habits have you picked up?
What primary "baby job" does your hubby take on when it comes to caring for your little one? Some examples of "baby jobs" include:
Changing Diapers (which can be classified into 2 jobs: easy and eeewwwww)
Feeding - also 2 jobs: easy (bottle) and eeewwww (food - if you've read Mo's site before, you know she's messy marvin when it comes to eating)
Bathing
Putting to Bed
etc. etc.
I can't get my hubby to do any of the above on a consistent basis. He will not change the eeewww diapers. He claims he doesn't have the stomach for it. And now that Mo is eating food, we're talking about every diaper these days!!
He will not bathe her. He says he's afraid to do this alone. And I'm lucky if he feeds her once a week. As for putting her to bed, that is a rare occasion as well. Why you ask? Because putting Mo to bed requires feeding her first, and as you just read, that doesn't happen!
So ladies, I need your help. I need you to kick my hubby's butt with your words. Tell him he's a slacker!! (Don't worry everyone! I still love my slacker!!)
Mo's on vacation.. Please stand by...
