OUrs is the 40-hour series 2...
if you are debating whether or not you should get Tivo in general, the answer is YES... DO IT. DO IT NOW! We didn't even know what it was and my husband's parents gave it to us as a joint b-day gift right after Ben was born... now we can't live without it.

As for series 2 vs. an earlier one? I can't really help you there... don't know the difference. But this one works quite nicely and I think was only $100. (possibly less, with a rebate)

Are you able to access TIVO online somehow? In other words, if you're away and realize you forgot to set something, can you do it remotely?

Yep! It's funny, Tom will often set things up to record from work and I'll look at the TiVo and be like... "What the heck? Ohhhhhhh..." LOL.
