The Battle Is On
It's been over an hour and a half and the Mo-meister is still screaming away in her crib. Yep, that's right. She's in her crib. After much thought and debate over the last couple days, we decided to try the crib one more time to see if we could hold out a bit longer on the toddler bed. There is absolutely NOTHING in there but her stuffed monkey - which she clutches like there's no tomorrow. We also pulled it away from the wall (ever so slightly) to avoid all opportunity for her to use the wall as leverage. We also put lots of padding down on the floor so that if she does get out again she won't hurt herself. We've been taking turns monitoring her from the hallway using a mirror so she can't see us. (We're paranoid, what can we say?) The kid's holding out longer than we are... let me tell ya!
The interesting thing is that she's having some weird separation anxiety - only at night just before bedtime. She acts like she's terrified of everything - even her Daddy. I'm the only one that seems to be able to calm her. It's really weird considering she has NEVER been like this before. It must have been the vacation that threw her off. I don't think it was the change in routine so much as it was the fact that she was with us 24/7. And now when we leave her alone, she freaks out.
Bottom line is that we're going to give this 1 week. If things don't improve, we're getting the toddler bed. I'm hoping for the best. Thanks everyone for the encouraging words.
**** EDIT****
VICTORY IS OURS! One hour and 50 minutes later, she's asleep. Holy crap - that was grueling!

Hang in there! It's tough listening to them cry like that but she's asleep and that's a good thing. Both boys went through stages where they were attached to just one of us. The seperation anxiety thing is a pain.
If you need anything please let us know. Lately it seems I have been a night owl so if you need someone to talk to just call or email.

Wow! Congrats on sticking to that. I never would have been able to hold out that long. After about 15 minutes of crying I'm in there. That must have been horrible!

I'm in there too after barely TWO minutes (not to get him out but to lay him back down - again, and again, and again until he gives up). Congrats!! I'll bet it was incredibly tough to listen to her but not go in.
She's getting so big!

WE JUST STARTED, TOO! OMG (Sorry for the yelling, I'm just happy to hear someone else is doing it).
She's down and asleep. It's getting better. We have to break the swaddle now. She's actually ready but maaannnn, it's tough to hear. Gets better daily, though!
