TLC - The Losing my interest Channel
I used to love Trading Spaces, but over the past couple of years it has become quite monotous. It got to the point where some of the designers went overboard in being different and their rooms were outright ridiculous. I mean - who the hell wants moss or hay stuck to their bedroom wall? Or wrapping paper stuck to their living room ceiling?
But alas, I found a new show to fill the void. It's called "movin' up" - and it's about people who move out of their house and into another. Four months later they get to go back to their old homes and see what the new owners did to their old place. Somehow, the show manages to find people who have RADICALLY different taste and it's really entertaining to see their reactions when someone changes things. I mean - what do these people expect?
It's interesting how nosy people can be when it comes to their old digs. We often drive past our old house to see what it looks like - partly because we miss the place, but also to see what the new people did to it as well. And the guy who we purchased our current home from has been by a few times to drop off some things he found while unpacking his belongings. (FYI - he bought a bigger house in the neighborhood that happens to be 4 houses down from us). Anyhoo, when stopping by, he felt this incessant need to gawk at all the changes we made. The funny thing is we didn't make that many changes. The house was in great shape - just boring. All the walls were white and we added some much needed color.
Well, anyhoo, my point to all this rambling is if you're looking for some mindless entertainment, check out "Movin' up" on TLC.

I caught this show for the first time the other day... it was the russian couple who had the jungle theme as their master bedroom... and then the other couple who were demolishing the entire house... (the previous owner was the woman who cried when she saw they had turned her nursury into a walkin closet) LOL! I love it!

Question, I was just looking at your house pics (we DO have similar taste, btw)... where did you get that side table that is in your music room? The one with the wood top, two drawers, color looks like antiqued cream?
This is exactly what I'm looking for for my dining room. I have had my eye on a PB console table for awhile now, (which I'll probably end up eventually just giving up and buying) but I'm hoping against hope to avoid the insane shipping charge! LOL! ;)

Erin,
LOL! That piece in our music room was actually the bottom of what was a dining room hutch! We had it made for us from a place in this area called Oley Valley Country Store. (We live in the Reading, PA area). Having them custom made for us turned out to be a lot less expensive then any furniture store. They're very well crafted. I can't remember exactly what we spent on that, but I don't think it was more than 300-400.

I love your taste as well! Trading Spaces did get a bit over the top. Without Paige and Ty I could care less.
I never could figure out Moving Up. Thanks fo the tip!

Trading Spaces bores me. I've seen Moving up a couple of times though and love it! It's always interesting to see how people take a space and make it their own.
