Mo's cup runneth over
Between Mo's 6th & 7th month, we started her on the cup. The very first time we gave it to her, she drank it like a natural. It's been all downhill since then!
She's almost a year old now and she absolutely, positively will NOT drink from a cup. Let me play out the daily episode for you.
Mommy: Give Mo cup (insert words of encouragement here)
Mo: Scrunch nose, groan a little, take a sip or two, throw cup on the
floor, thank.you.very.much.
Repeat. Many times.
At her 10 month well visit, the pediatrician gave us a hard time about it...as if we were purposefuly stunting her development or something. So she gave us a few tips and off we went on a full scale mission to succeed.
Mission failed. And I regret to say that much formula has been wasted.
Anyone else running into this problem? Have any suggestions? (And yes, we tried various brands of cups - as well as various types of drinks! And all cups have been tested and work!)

Oh, no help here. But I'd like to see what y'all find that works. :-)

Have you tried taking the lid off and holding the cup while she takes a drink?

Maybe try a straw (under supervision of course!) The boys always liked straws better then the cups. Or the cups with no spillproof thing in it too. I found that at first it was hard for them to get the hang of it sinc they had to suck so hard.

We have ditched all the "no-spill" valves from all the sippy cups and it has worked wonders. Ben still won't take as much from a cup as he will from a bottle... but it definitely improved when we made it easier to get the liquid out! Also, on nights when we are already stripping him down to let him eat anyway, I give him water or a little formula in a sippy with no lid. He LOVES this and usually manages to drink more than he spills!

ACK! No success with any type of sippy cup. I have prob spent fifty bucks on soft spout, magic sippy, no valve, better valve, my first sippy, WHATEVER!! He won't look at any of them.

Taking the lid off has helped. And taking the no-spill valves out has also helped. But the consequent mess made (even with close supervision) is quite disturbing!! The straw thing is something I hadn't considered, but will certainly give a try as well!
